Thirty years after the mafia massacres of Capaci and Via D’Amelio, Rosaria Costa — widow of police officer Vito Schifani — and Salvatore Lopresti — member of the Palermo Police Escort Unit — retrace those tragic events that forever marked and changed their lives. At just 22 years old, Rosaria was left alone to raise a four-month-old son, watching the dreams and plans she had shared with Vito shatter. Salvatore, instead, witnessed his colleagues and friends fall one after the other — among them: Antonio Montinaro, Rocco Dicillo, Emanuela Loi, Eddie Walter Cosina, Claudio Traina, Vincenzo Li Muli, Agostino Catalano. Even today, Rosaria and Salvatore hope that truth and justice will ultimately prevail and help erase that lingering stench of explosives and burnt flesh they still carry with them.
